“Standing Strong in Submission”
Submit…a word we don’t like to hear. We would rather do things our way. In fact, we admire those who make their own way, Like the lyrics of an old song, “I did it my way”. This always wanting to do things my way has morphed into “I want things my way and if I don’t get things my way I will protest and destroy what you have.” When we remove the word “submit” from our life we get chaos.
God has a better way, and it begins in the home. Children are to obey and honor their parents so that,
it may be well with you.
Ephesians 6:1-2
From there our passage today tells us to submit to the governing authorities. We are to submit to the leaders in the church. (Hebrews 13:17) We are even to submit to one another. (Ephesians 5:21) Wow, that’s a lot of submitting.
The example we follow, Jesus Christ, said He only speaks what the Father tells Him to speak, (John 12:49) and only does what the Father gives Him to do. (John 10:30-38) Jesus even said,
…not My will, but Yours be done.
Luke 22:42
Yet even in His submission Jesus still stood for the truth all the way to the cross. Let us in our submission stand strong in our faith.
