“Relationships and God”
God often uses family relationships to illustrate our relationship with Him and each other. Knowing God is our Father should help us understand how to behave towards one another, they are our brothers and sisters.
The marriage relationship is vitally important to God for it shows the relationship between Christ and the people of God, His church. To abuse the marriage relationship is serious business to God. Husbands are to not only love their wives but to give themselves up for them and wives are to love and respect their husbands. (Ephesians 5) Mistreating or even taking lightly the marriage relationship is an abomination to God.
When some Pharisees asked Jesus about the marriage relationship He answered,
Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE…AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH…What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.
Matthew 19:4-6
