Ken’s Korner

This month, I’d like to take a few moments of your time to look at the comforting words of Jesus in John 14:1-3. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

Notice that Jesus is talking to His eleven disciples. He is experiencing His own grief and anguish of soul as He is about to begin the “Journey to the Cross.” Yet Jesus is still concerned for those who are His own. He says, “Let not your heart be troubled…” Jesus is seeking to provide these troubled souls with comfort. But notice that He is also giving them hope. I am going away, I am preparing you a place, I will come again, and I will receive you to Myself. All these statements provided hope for the disciples even if they missed it in the moment.

This concern for His disciples is even richer when we remember that Jesus was looking out for their good, not only in His own state of turmoil, but also when He knew that these same men would desert Him and even deny knowing Him on that very same night. Now that is LOVE.

Jesus has that same love and concern for you. No matter what we are going through, there is always comfort and hope found in our relationship with Jesus Christ. My prayer for you here at LBC, continues to be that you would enjoy the richness of fellowship with our Savior on a daily basis, that you will truly enjoy God’s gift of eternal life today and every day, and that you will long for His return. Oh the unimaginable and joyous glory

IN THE LOVE OF JESUS
